Recently, China’s first green electricity-powered low-carbon oxygen station was officially commissioned at Hunan Children’s Hospital. As a National Regional Medical Center for Children and a Grade III Class A specialized children’s hospital, the hospital has long placed strong emphasis on its social responsibility, particularly by actively responding to national policies on energy conservation, cost reduction, and operational efficiency. ZOY’s smart oxygen supply solution integrates high-efficiency oxygen generation, waste heat recovery, and photovoltaic power generation. While ensuring a stable oxygen supply for clinical use, the system also delivers significant cost and efficiency benefits for the hospital, supporting the high-quality development of public hospitals through green technology.

Before this project, the hospital relied on traditional oxygen generation equipment for its oxygen supply. High energy consumption and frequent equipment failures had long been major challenges. Annual electricity costs exceeded RMB 1 million, while annual equipment maintenance expenses were also substantial, placing considerable pressure on hospital operations and maintenance. At the same time, the traditional system generated significant operating noise, making an upgrade of the oxygen supply system increasingly urgent. After multiple on-site surveys and assessments, the ZOY project team adopted a containerized delivery solution without modifying the hospital’s existing oxygen plant room. Two full-performance oxygen generation containers were vertically stacked, significantly reducing the equipment footprint. This enabled a stable supply of high-flow medical oxygen within a limited site area, effectively addressing the hospital’s space constraints.

Beyond stable oxygen supply, ZOY’s full-performance oxygen generation container integrates the concept of green and low-carbon development throughout the system design. The equipment is equipped with a waste heat recovery system that captures heat generated by the air compressors during operation. At the same time as oxygen is produced, the recovered heat is used to heat cold water flowing through the hot-water pipeline, providing domestic hot water for patient bathing in the inpatient department and enabling the secondary utilization of energy.. Photovoltaic panels were also installed on top of the oxygen containers and on the building rooftop, creating a dual-power supply model combining solar power with grid electricity. This further offsets electricity consumption and unlocks additional energy-saving potential.

At the project’s green transformation briefing, ZOY CEO Huang Gang shared the energy-saving results with the hospital. The hospital’s previous oxygen generation system consumed more than one million kWh of electricity annually. After replacing it with ZOY’s full-performance oxygen generation containers, the equipment’s own electricity consumption was reduced by 48%. Combined with photovoltaic green electricity and waste heat recovery, the project is expected to reduce 64.5 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, equivalent to planting approximately 4,030 trees. Behind the significant reduction in the hospital’s electricity costs is an equally meaningful environmental and social benefit.

At the morning launch ceremony for the “New Medical Gas Project,” hospital leadership spoke highly of ZOY’s full-performance oxygen generation containers. Director Xie noted that medical oxygen is the “lifeline” of hospital operations. In the past, ensuring a reliable oxygen supply came with the unavoidable burden of high energy consumption. Through continuous technological innovation, ZOY Technology has integrated energy recycling, clean energy, noise and energy reduction, and compact spatial design into one solution. Through technology, oxygen can better safeguard the lives of children while enabling hospitals to fulfill their social responsibility for energy conservation and emissions reduction. Director Xiao also emphasized the importance of long-term operation and maintenance support, calling on ZOY to ensure the equipment continues to operate safely, reliably, and stably, and to develop the project into a benchmark example for medical oxygen supply at Grade III Class A hospitals nationwide. Following the ceremony, the ZOY team accompanied hospital leaders on an on-site visit to observe the operation of the oxygen generation containers.

The green transformation of the medical gas system at Hunan Children’s Hospital represents a practical example of how public hospitals can contribute to China’s “Dual Carbon” goals. Ensuring clinical oxygen safety remains the foundation, while energy efficiency and carbon reduction extend the value of the project. ZOY’s full-performance oxygen generation containers address the hospital’s practical challenges in operating costs, limited space, and equipment noise, while transforming energy consumption in medical oxygen production into measurable environmental benefits. In addition, a whole-building ambient oxygen enrichment system was deployed in the hospital’s staff activity center to create an oxygen-enriched environment and support the well-being of hospital employees.

Looking ahead, ZOY will continue to focus on the smart medical oxygen supply sector, accelerating the development and upgrading of its full-performance oxygen generation container series. The company will also promote the large-scale application of green, low-carbon energy-saving technologies such as waste heat recovery and photovoltaic integration in medical oxygen systems. Guided by the broader Dual Carbon strategy, ZOY will leverage its technological capabilities to strengthen the foundation of medical oxygen safety, advance the transition toward green and low-carbon healthcare infrastructure, and help medical institutions achieve safe oxygen supply, lower operating costs, improved efficiency, and low-carbon transformation. Through continued innovation, ZOY aims to inject new momentum into the green development of medical infrastructure.
