Qufu is known as the hometown of Confucius and the “City of the Sage in the East.” For more than two thousand years, this city has been shaped by Confucian culture and the idea of “benevolence toward others.”That spirit is still very much part of everyday life here. And today, it is also reflected in the way local healthcare continues to evolve.

The new campus of Qufu Second People’s Hospital is now in operation, with a planned capacity of 600 beds and a focus on combining medical care, rehabilitation, and elderly care.

Before the move, the hospital mainly relied on oxygen cylinders for clinical oxygen supply. That meant regular transportation, storage, and replacement — all part of the daily work behind the scenes.For the new campus, the hospital chose two ZOY Full-Performance Oxygen Shelters, arranged in a duty-and-standby configuration. One system operates while the other remains ready, so the hospital can switch over when maintenance is required and keep oxygen available around the clock.

A practical solution for a site with limited space

The new campus was developed on the former site of Qufu First People’s Hospital, where available space was limited.

There was no need to build a separate oxygen plant room. The containerized shelters could be installed directly on site, which made the upgrade much easier to fit into the existing campus.

Less than 2 meters from the building

This was one of the interesting parts of the project.

The oxygen shelters are located less than 2 meters from the main hospital building. For a hospital that also provides rehabilitation and elderly care, keeping the surrounding environment quiet matters.ZOY addressed this through compressor selection, enclosure acoustic insulation, and airflow design to reduce operating noise.The result is simple: the oxygen system can stay close to where it is needed without becoming a disturbance to wards and care areas.

Making use of the heat generated during oxygen production

An oxygen generator produces heat as it runs. Instead of simply releasing that heat into the air, this project uses a heat recovery system to heat water for patient bathing.So while the system is producing medical oxygen, part of the otherwise wasted heat is put to work elsewhere in the hospital.

It is a small change, but over years of daily operation, these details matter.

From oxygen cylinders to producing oxygen on site

Perhaps the biggest change is the simplest one.

Instead of repeatedly purchasing, transporting, storing, and replacing oxygen cylinders, the hospital can now generate medical oxygen on site.

For a new campus combining healthcare and elderly care, this means a more continuous oxygen supply and a simpler way to manage the system behind it.

From traditional cylinder oxygen to on-site PSA oxygen generation, the project at Qufu Second People’s Hospital shows how oxygen infrastructure can quietly become part of a broader upgrade in hospital care.

In a city known for the Confucian principle of caring for others, perhaps this is what modern healthcare looks like in practice — not grand words, just better systems doing their job every day.
